The SPHERE bus wheels have been turning round and round! The bus helps SPHERE members by easing transportation problems, providing a safe and free ride for our members to SPHERE classes, programs and events. “The SPHERE Bus has given us wings!”, said SPHERE’s President Valerie Jensen. “Most of our members are non-drivers and transportation is always a problem. Our new bus helps give SPHERE members greater independence and helps to ease the burden of our member’s families and caregivers– we love our bus!”
On July 31, the SPHERE Bus took it’s maiden voyage on a new Ridgefield Town Loop. SPHERE’s 22-passenger bus will be running this loop every Wednesday from 9 am to 4pm. The SPHERE Bus Town Loop was initiated to provide FREE transportation for Seniors and adults with disabilities. Ridgefielders are invited and encouraged to take the bus to popular spots in town—the library, Stop and Shop, and Founders Hall, to name a few. A very special thank you to Don Ciota for working tirelessly to initiate the bus loop to help ease the burden of transportation for seniors and the disabled. Thank you Don!

SPHERE member Jocelyn Steele was hired to be a “Bus Helper”, assisting SPHERE members on and off the bus, and offering everyone who rides the bus a warm welcome onboard. Keep up the good work Joc!
In addition to SPHERE’s biweekly programming, the bus has been used to see a STAR show, for the Penguin Plunge, and to go to the Regional Special Olympics Games. The SPHERE family also took the bus to the Ridgefield Theater Barn to watch our very own Emily Pambianchi win the “Ridgefield Arts Council’s Behind the Scenes Award”, and award Emily won for her excellence volunteering for SPHERE. (yay Em!) Ridgefield’s Out and About Club will be taking a field trip Lake Compounce next week, and they will be riding in style on the SPHERE bus— sounds like fun!!
